Staff at The Arbors at Dracut Goes Above & Beyond

According to recent research, the senior living industry has been one of the largest job creators in the United States since 1990. With the increase of job openings in assisted living communities around the nation, finding the right people for those roles can be challenging.   Working at an assisted living community often requires a passionate, kind-hearted person motivated to make a difference in other people’s lives. You’ll find these qualities in the staff members at The Arbors at Dracut Assisted Living & Memory Care Community. It’s much more than just a “job” to them. It’s a passion to better the lives of each resident.

Variety: A Must in Assisted Living Dining According to Dining Services Director

No two residents at The Arbors at Dracut have the same taste buds. Some residents are on medications and need special accommodations, while others need to eat a balanced diet. That’s no problem for Bob Coffman, Dining Services Director at The Arbors at Dracut. He embraces the variety of taste buds he gets to work with on a daily basis.

Memories of “the good ol’ days”

Back when soda was five cents a can, main street was full of life and people enjoyed spending their time at the local race track in the small town of Dracut. These are just some of the stories residents at The Arbors at Dracut love to reminisce on. While the town of Dracut may look different, the people are still the same. And since opening in June 2017, The Arbors at Dracut has been creating new memories along with way. There isn’t a shortage of residents (or staff members) who aren’t willing to talk about the “good ol’ days” of what Dracut used to be.

Furry Friends Visit Residents

For some people, pets are just like family. They greet you at home with a wagging tail and kisses after a long day of work and are always up for a game of fetch or a walk around the block. But when senior adults move away from their home to an assisted living community, they might not be able to have their companion make the move too. The Arbors at Dracut has found a way for residents and staff to connect with animals – right here in the community.

New Memory Care Community in Dracut Offers Unique Program

Memory care: A form of long-term care that caters to patients with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other forms of memory loss. The Arbors at Dracut does exactly that with their memory care community, The Reflections, providing a space for those with memory loss to live their best life. Having a local memory care community has helped many residents stay local and live near family members, rather than moving away to a different town.

From Island to Assisted Living

Making the move to assisted living can be an emotional time for your senior parent. They may fear the unknown of living in an unfamiliar place, leaving behind a place they called home for many years. It may take quite a bit of convincing from you and your siblings, and after several conversation and acknowledgement they know it’s best for them, your mom or dad may still be hesitant to pack their belongings and move. Helen, a resident at The Arbors at Dracut, knows these feelings all too well.

Assisted Living & Memory Care – Making a Seamless Transition

From the moment you walk through the doors at The Arbors at Dracut you feel like you’re home — the classic chandelier hanging in the entryway, people chatting in the Pub and plenty of comfy couches and chairs to sit on. It’s a warm feeling that carries throughout the building. Whether you’re in assisted living or memory care – you feel the same way. “If someone makes the transition from assisted living to memory care, they will barely notice a difference,” says Kim, Program Director for Memory Reflections at The Arbors at Dracut. And that’s on purpose. The Arbors at Dracut designed their building to be a cohesive community with similar features on each floor.

Dining Services Director committed to “leaving a lasting impression”

To Bob Coffman, Food Services Director at The Arbors at Dracut, cooking is more than just fixing a plate of food – it’s a passion for creating quality, delicious meals that will leave a lasting impression on each person. He didn’t always want to be a chef, but a gentle nudge from his father led him into his cooking career. “When I was going to school to be a teacher, my dad told me that 800,000 chefs will be needed within the next 10 years, so I listened to him and went to culinary school instead. There was a lot of other people in my cooking classes with more experience, but I pushed through and learned from some of the best cooks in...
