New Assisted Living & Memory Care Community Built in Ellington CT

The Ivy at Ellington is the newest assisted living residential community for The Arbors Assisted Living Residential Community. Right when you walk through the doors, you feel at home. The design of each room throughout the entire building was specifically thought through, always keeping the resident in mind. From the theatre, The Pub and multiple court yards, there are many places for the residents to choose from to spend their time.

Staff Members Excited for Adventures Ahead

Staff members working at Ivy at Ellington call working in this building a “dream come true.”

Carrie Wilson, Program Director of The Reflections Memory Care at Ivy at Ellington, said “The memory care community is set up in a big square, so there are no dead ends. There are seating spaces throughout the hallways for our residents who like walking the halls but might need to take a little break. Everything is just so well thought out, from the lighting to the size of the showers. I like to tell people we have the ‘penthouse suite’ in memory care, we have a great view of the entire building and all the same amenities.”

This gives residents the opportunity to feel at home in a new environment. Often people associate memory care communities with memories of their grandparents in nursing homes. It’s far from that. It’s a feeling of calm, friendly and family-filled atmosphere.

“What I love most about this community is the purpose of why we’re working here – to better the lives of the residents,” says Carrie.

And she understands what it’s like to be in the shoes of a CNA, to moving her own family into a memory care community. That’s why she is so excited for this building to create new adventures and experiences with the residents. For Activities Program Director at Ivy at Ellington, Lorelei Dubowski, she has a hard time choosing only one space that makes the atmosphere so awesome.

“The entire building, right when you walk in is so amazing. It’s perfect for everyone and everything. We are going to do activities throughout the building, not just the activity room,” says Lorelei.

This gives her the chance to create a unique and fun activities program for the residents. From lawn games in the court yard, to live entertainment in The Pub, it’s all about making a difference in the residents’ lives.

And you can’t forget about the food.

With a dining room with a restaurant leisure style, relaxing feel – you won’t go hungry here. Ken MacDonald, Dining Services Director at Ivy at Ellington isn’t just creating a meal, he’s looking to leave you with a smile on your face – no matter how your day is going.

“The dining program here is very restaurant style, residents can come in at their leisure and order when they want (during open hours). I love cooking a good, hearty meal while leaving room for creativity,” says Ken.

Whether you’re living in assisted living or memory care, The Ivy at Ellington is excited for the adventures and experiences ahead with their residents.
