We know how difficult it is to decide on the best care for yourself or a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or forms of dementia. That’s why The Arbors and The Ivy have developed a special memory care service called Reflections as part of our senior living options. This one-of-a-kind memory care community is designed to give you and your family the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your loved one is being taken care of by compassionate, specially trained staff.
Reflections Memory Care at The Arbors and The Ivy
When a family member experiences memory loss, a supportive understanding of memory disorders and dementia is essential for their care. And a community that ensures seniors feel listened to is crucial. These are the hallmarks of Reflections.
The Benefits of Assisted Living with Memory Care
Reflections is a neighborhood within The Arbors and The Ivy that houses residents receiving memory care. The staff here provide regular check-ins and are always available.
A big part of what our team does for residents receiving memory care involves helping to slow cognitive decline. Our memory care directors are certified dementia practitioners with specific training to help your loved one maintain memory function and feel supported emotionally and physically.
Creating meaningful, purposeful golden years for our residents means:
- Developing individualized lifestyle plans
- Creating helpful adaptations to daily routines
- Offering a supportive, comforting environment
- Taking care of residents’ emotional and physical well-being
- Providing specialized memory care training for caregivers
- Determining which multisensory approach will best meet our residents’ needs
Memory Care Focus Areas at Reflections
After years of experience working with older adults, we understand that no two residents are alike. That’s why the Reflections community offers four distinct resident-centered focus areas. Each of these addresses an aspect of living well while receiving memory or dementia care.
Cascades
No matter your age, social engagement is key to a good life. Our Cascades program focuses on life enrichment by getting residents involved in activities with others. Stimulating activities and laughter are medicines which help our residents rebuild their self-esteem and independence.
Pathways
Another key to a good life is the ability to maintain dignity through personal care. Pathways identifies areas of strength for residents and modifies activities and environment as needed. We want our seniors to maintain as much independence as possible.
Landscapes
Memory loss is often overwhelming and scary. Landscapes focuses on serenity enrichment. We use a variety of relaxation techniques to relieve any stress senior adults might be feeling. This might look like aromatherapy sessions, mediation, or utilizing our Snoezelen multisensory approach.
Vista
People with memory loss can also struggle with loss of interest in food and an increase in anxiety during dining times. To keep our residents healthy, we’ve focused on a multi-sensory dining approach through Vista. We offer choice variety and use aromatherapy and contrasting colors to increase interest in eating. These focus areas are implemented as part of our Reflections program.
